How the calculator works

Points are the exit minus the entry for a long, the entry minus the exit for a short. Dollars are points times the contract's point value times the number of contracts. Commission is per contract for the round turn (in and out), the way most futures brokers and prop firms quote it.

With a stop, the risk is the loss if the stop is hit, commissions included, and the R multiple is the net result divided by that risk. A trade that makes twice what it risked is a 2R trade.

Questions

What is the tick value of NQ and MNQ?
NQ (E-mini Nasdaq-100) moves in 0.25-point ticks worth $5 each, so one point is $20 per contract. MNQ (Micro E-mini Nasdaq-100) has the same 0.25-point tick worth $0.50, so one point is $2.
What is the tick value of ES and MES?
ES (E-mini S&P 500) moves in 0.25-point ticks worth $12.50 each, so one point is $50 per contract. MES (Micro E-mini S&P 500) has the same tick worth $1.25, so one point is $5.
How do I calculate futures profit?
Points gained (exit minus entry for a long, entry minus exit for a short) times the dollar value of a point times the number of contracts, minus commissions and fees. A 10-point NQ win on 2 contracts is 10 x $20 x 2 = $400 before costs.
Is one MNQ the same as one tenth of an NQ?
Yes. Ten MNQ contracts move like one NQ: $20 a point in total. The same goes for ten MES against one ES.
